CASA/GAL Training scheduled for April 27

Register now for GAL training:

A three-hour training on representing children in abuse and neglect proceedings will be offered April 27 in Helena. The session is part of the Prevent Child Abuse and Neglect Conference and CLE credit will be available.

Andrea Khoury, an Assistant Director of Child Welfare for the National Child Welfare Resource Center on Legal and Judicial Issues, will speak. This session will explore the role of the guardian ad litem in implementing ASFA, providing the child with a voice, and helping the child achieve permanency. It will concentrate on specific provisions of ASFA where the child's perspective is particularly important. It will also touch on issues surrounding representing adolescents.

Also on the agenda is Dr. Wayne Duehn, a University of Texas professor and a frequent speaker at National CASA conferences. He will talk on Reunification of Sexually Abusive Families: How? Why? If? on April 28.

The conference is scheduled for April 27 to 29 at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel in Helena.
