Park-2-Park Montana bike ride,
golf tournaments highlights of summer

Park-2-Park Montana logo - 2005 Inaugural Ride

You can bike from Glacier to Yellowstone or play 18 holes of golf to support CASA programs in Montana this summer. CASA of Montana has been chosen as one of three charities to benefit from the Town Pump's annual golf event. This year's tournament is planned to begin at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11 at the Old Works course in Anaconda.

In Missoula and Billings, golf tournaments are planned to benefit CASA programs. The 4th Annual CASA Cup Golf Tournament is set for Lakehills Golf course in Billings on July 8. Call Yellowstone CASA at 406-259-1233 for more information. The Missoula Golf Tournament begins at noon July 15th at Phantom Hills. Lunch and dinner will be provided as well as a cart, range balls and all beverages. Cost is $65 per person. Call 406-542-1208 for more information.

The Park-2-Park Montana Inaugural bike ride will raise money and awareness of CASA programs across the state. The Helena Bike Club, with support from the Yellowstone Cycling Club, is sponsoring the ride Sept. 5 to 10. Only 40 riders will join us for a 400-mile, supported five-day ride from St. Mary's KOA in Glacier Park to Gardiner in Yellowstone Park. It begins with a meeting and dinner in St. Mary's on Sept. 5 and ends with a hot springs soak and a barbecue at Chico Hot Springs on Sept. 10. The route follows U.S. 89 along the front range of the Rockies through spectacular scenery.

Local CASA programs, including Front Range, 6th Judicial in Livingston and Great Falls CASA CAN, will provide meals, snacks and support services for the riders as they come through their areas. Yellowstone CASA is also helping with organization. Ride leaders are Ed Folkwein of Billings, who biked across the United States carrying his own gear, and Rick Bush, CASA of Montana webmaster and trained Adventure Cycling trip leader.

Two nights on the ride will be spent at motels, one night in a community center and one night in a church in Livingston. The fundraising goal for the Park-2-Park ride is $10,000 to benefit the state network and programs across the state.
